A Man Named Nobel And One Who Dares To Pursue The Dream.

So many distracters. Is Peace supposed to bring out so much hate? I draw many comparisons between President Barack Obama and Martin Luther King because of their similar abilities to rally people, all people, behind the same ideals.

When over 250 000 people gathered in 1963 for the march on Washington, they did so because they believed in MLK’s gospel. The one where he preached equality, tolerance and non-violence. Between 1963 and 2009, large gatherings were attributed to such pretexts as sporting events and extraordinary musical manifestations, usually involving Bono. But this year, on a cold January morning, over a million people gathered to not only witness history-in-the-making but also to show support to the President’s ideals of equality and of peace, of hope and of change. The ideal to not only build bridges between all people but to also recognize that we need to repair those that been had broken.

The stone-throwers complain of President Obama’s lack of accomplishment. The reality is that Nobel Peace Prize winner Martin Luther King was bestowed with the award for his dream which has yet to be accomplished as there is still no equality between the races. You think we are not still often judged by the colour of our skin? We often are, hence the necessity of a Barack Obama.

The Nobel committee cites President Obama received the award for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples“. The Prize was perhaps remitted to The Prez but is it also a nod to those who voted for him and to all those who believe in him. Thank you, Nobel Prize committee. I’m humbled by the recognition.
